Did You Miss The Boat?

June 11, 2008 by

Did you miss the boat? The closing date for Applications was Tuesday, June 24th, 2008. If you didn’t get your application in on time, you’ve missed the boat. Never mind, though, there’s always next year!

A source has revealed that just 30pc of the prospective candidates are female, with 70pc of all CVs sent in to the production company coming from men.

Programme-makers ShinAwil, who are behind the new show, have been accepting applications over the past two weeks in a bid to find 14 aspiring apprentices to take part in the 12-week long show that screens in Autumn.

Despite the fact that both of the finalists in last year’s BBC programme were female, in the shape of Michelle Dewberry and Ruth Badger, Irish women appear a little more daunted at the prospect of doing battle in the business world.

“The producers have been inundated with CVs and we noticed there is a 70-30 ratio in favour of men,” said a TV3 source.

“We were amazed ourselves when we noticed that the number of applicants were predominantly male and we have no reason for that. Ireland is as far advanced a country in terms of equality as anywhere else.”

Eamon, we don’t actually handle the application submissions. Deadline for receipt of completed applications was 24th June 2008 as far as I’m aware so if you only sent it today I fear you may be too late. Sorry mate!

Commiserations Suzanne. Unfortunately the deadline for applications has passed and we understand there are no plans to extend.

According to TV3, candidates chosen to progress to Round 2 should hear from the Production Team by early July.

I appear to have missed the deadline how about opening it again for another day for all us individuals with some time mangement issues! ?

Sorry Looney, but we at Apprentice Ireland Blog have no association with TV3 or the production company and have no involvement in the selection process.

Anyhow, I believe 2nd auditions are currently taking place. Unless they have problems selecting suitable candidates, I don’t expect they’ll re-open this year’s application process. Better luck next year!
