Welcome to The Apprentice Ireland

June 11, 2008 by

The Apprentice Ireland panelYou will no doubt be eagerly awaiting TV3′s new show, The Apprentice Ireland, starring Bill Cullen in the role which has made Sir Alan Sugar a household name in the UK.

Bill Cullen famously went from selling apples on the streets of Dublin at the age of five, living in severe poverty, to become the founder and chairman of Renault Ireland.

The first series of the Irish Apprentice will be screened in the autumn on TV3 and will offer one of fourteen candidates a 12-month contract with Renault Ireland worth around €100,000.

Episodes within the series will be sponsored by a number of companies, including Sports Club Lotto Fundraising and Club Online Registration and SMS Communication software operator, My Club Finances.

The hit show originated in America and is headed up by Donald Trump. It depicts a number of ‘applicants’ battling for the job opportunity of a lifetime over a period of weeks.

Since the success of the American version, other versions have sprung up throughout the world.

Other incarnations of the show are now screened in Africa, South Africa, Belgium, China, as well as the well-known version in the UK with Alan Sugar and in Germany, where it is called Big Boss.

Bill Cullen is also a well known author of a book called ‘It’s a Long way from Penny Apples’, and is working on a second called ‘Streetwise’, which will impart the business knowledge he gained over the years.

We will be following the series right the way through to the finish and we hope you’ll keep on returning to this blog for updates and fresh news.

I did not have a chance to watch the previous shows, but catched couple of series of the current one … wow … I do not know how they were choosen but they look and act so incompetent … and also so not used to be in a team … . the way they talk to each other & what they say for each other … I do not know how the panel put up with that at all!

    Hi Bill, Jackie and Brian

I hope Steve Rayon wins, he deserves to win, he is giving everything up to give his 100% for Bill and Jackie (which you want and deserve) and I believe that, I hope he gets the chance, He is a likeable person. Just because he is coloured blind and dyslexic doesn’t mean he cannot make it in the business world. He is a fine salesman. He should be given that chance. There are people in this world who think they know everything, but sometimes they don’t see the good side of people, even in the cut throat world of business. It was great to see ye give him the chance last night.

Fair Play to yourself Bill, Jackie, Brian and Gavin Duffy and also the rest of the interview team. We admire ye. My husband and I were delighted to see it. Everyone should be given a chance in life, the lad has not got a disability, as he said, but he was very strong to talk about his demons on national television. Fair play to him.

We are business people and I worked in the modelling world also, another cut throat world, but unless you can work as a team and also on your own initiative if need be, God knows, you have to be very strong. Bill, ? as for you getting up as you said at 5 in the morning, I have had to get up at 2 in the morning many times to work in the film industry ! Maybe not getting home until maybe 3 am next day. I noted your comment on TV. AND also working in the hospitality industry afterwards. But being a fit person I am well fit for it. If you swim 20 lengths of a swimming pool a day you would know.

Is it just me or is Ciara McManus a dead ringer for Velma from Scooby Doo? While I’m at it, if this lot are such top notch potential entrepreneurs, where do they get the time to participate in a game show?
