FORMER Renault chairman Bill Cullen may be the boss of TV3’s new Apprentice show — but it’s clearly partner Jackie Lavin who’ll be wearing the pants.
The pair are joining forces with fellow entrepreneur Brian Purcell for the Irish version of the hit reality show, which sees 14 aspiring tycoons battling it out this Autumn to become Cullen’s understudy.
And the Penny Apples author, who’s famous for his colloquialisms, said it’s not him that the candidates have to worry about — it’s his socialite partner of 30 years. Read more

TV3 is wasting no time on its Apprentice project. However, at the risk of being hauled up for rehashing last week’s news, it’s hard not to obsess a bit about the chances of a hit series being made out of an Irish version of this show.
This extraordinary format has the power to pull in viewers like few others can manage, but it relies on one key factor - a ruthless character like Alan Sugar to call the shots.
In this respect, TV3 can hardly have found Sugar’s match in man-of-the-people Bill Cullen. Read more
